The Indian youth have won the Under-19 Cricket World Cup for the fifth time after losing to the English youth. India beat England by 4 wickets in the final on Saturday (February 5).

The final was played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. With 15 balls left in the match, the youth of Team India won.

English captain Tom Prest won the toss and elected to bat. The junior batsmen seem to be up in arms over the captain’s decision. Team England were bowled out for 189 in 44.5 overs. James Ree scored a maximum of 95 runs.

Yash Dhule’s team was in danger from the start when they went down to bat on the short run target given by the England youth.

English fast bowler Joshua Boyden took the wicket with the second ball. However, Harnoor Singh and Sheikh Rashid continued to build the innings by handling the initial push. The duo added 49 runs in 17.3 overs.

Harnoor Singh returned to the dressing room at the head of the team’s 49 runs after playing a patient innings of 21 runs off 46 balls. Team India lost the third wicket for 95 runs.

After playing a great innings of 50 runs, Sheikh Rashid returned with the ball of James Sales. Then in the next over, Sales picked up the wicket of Team India captain Yash Dhule. He returned with 17 runs.

After that, Raj Bawa and Nishantha Sindhu took the helm of the team. He was taking the team to the port of victory in comfort. 67 runs came in a pair of two.

Raj Bawa was dismissed for 35 runs to stay 25 runs away from victory. After that, Nishantha Sindhu and wicketkeeper Dinesh Bana did the rest. The highest 50 runs for the team came from the bat of Nishantha Sindhu.

For England, Boyden, James Sales and Thomas Aspinwal took two wickets each.

Earlier, the English bowlers started losing one wicket after another in front of the Indian bowlers. James Rue fought as a one man army. He left the field after falling victim to Ravi Kumar for a personal 95 runs.

His 116-ball innings was sorted by 12 fours. Standing on the other side of the crease, however, James Sales continued to fight until the end. He faced 65 balls and remained unbeaten on 34 runs. If the rest could not support him, the English innings stopped in 44.5 overs.

Ravi Kumar and Raj Bawa bowled for India. Raj took 5 wickets for 31 runs. Robi, on the other hand, took 4 wickets for 34 runs. Tambi took the remaining one wicket.
