Zayed Khan did not sit in the chair even though he was elected as the general secretary of Bangladesh Film Artists Association.
Allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Code of Conduct have been proved against him by the Appellate Board.
He lost his post for good reason. Instead, Nipun won the post of general secretary without contest. Chairman of the Appellate Board Sohanur Rahman Sohan confirmed the matter on Saturday (February 5).
An emergency meeting of the Appellate Board was held at the office of the Film Artists Association at 5 pm today. Zayed Khan was not present there. Accused Chunnuo was not present as an active member.
The Appellate Board did not receive their statement as they were not present. However, the Appellate Board has ruled against them.
Instead of Zaid, Nipun won the post of general secretary. In the EC, Nadir Khan, who got 189 votes instead of Chunnu, has been declared the winner.
Meanwhile, Zaid had earlier informed the media that he would not be present at the meeting. Not only that, Zayed Khan has also given legal notices to four people including Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Chairman of the Appellate Board of the Election Commission.
The rest are Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Director General of the Department of Social Services, Member of the Appellate Board Mohammad Hossain. The legal notice, signed by Barrister Mujibul Haque Bhuiyan, was sent on Thursday (February 3rd).
Earlier, General Secretary candidate Nipun had brought multiple allegations against Zayed Khan, who had won the post of General Secretary, and Chunnu, who had won the post of EC. He has accused the two of not following the election code of conduct.
Sohanur Rahman Sohan, chairman of the appellate board, sent a letter to the social welfare minister and secretary asking for directions. In the light of that letter, the Department of Social Services of the Ministry of Social Welfare directed the Appellate Board to take a final decision in this regard.
As per the instructions, the concerned people of the Appellate Board called an emergency meeting at the office of the Film Artists Association on Saturday (February 5) at 4 pm.
The appellate board sent a letter to the complainant general secretary candidate Nipun, accused Zayed Khan and Chunnu along with two other election commissioners Zahid Hossain, BH Nishan and newly elected president of Shilpi Samiti Ilyas Kanchan asking them to be present.
